NOMINATING COMMITTEE ANNOUNCEMENT

Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated

Pursuant to Article IV, Section 3b and c of the Sigma Omega Bylaws, the Nominating Committee announces the election of the following officers in November 2025: First Anti-Basileus, Second Anti-Basileus, Anti-Grammateus, Anti-Tamiouchos, Epistoleus, Pecunious Grammateus, and two Nominating Committee members. Candidates for First Anti-Basileus, Second Anti-Basileus, Anti-Grammateus, Anti-Tamiouchos, and Pecunious Grammateus must have been active members for two calendar years, January through December prior to nomination; participated in at least four program activities and must have contributed 100% of the annual fundraising ask. There are also required conference attendance and training requirements. Graduate Advisers will also be elected according to the procedure outlined in the Alpha Kappa Alpha Manual of Standard Procedure. The Nominating Committee will reach out to Sorors to check interest in one of the offices in the upcoming election. Please consider running for office this November!!

This year, we’re excited to offer a dynamic series of LeadHership Development Workshops designed to help you grow, connect, and lead with confidence. What’s in Store:

  • Five engaging workshops focusing on key leadership skills

  • Practical strategies for personal and professional growth

  • How to Earn Your Certificate: To earn your Iva M. Brown Leadership Certificate, simply attend four out of the five workshops. We know life can get busy, so the August Chapter Retreat can replace one of the workshops. This alternative allows you to stay on track even if you can’t attend all of the regular sessions.

It’s a fantastic way to connect with others and gain valuable insights in a more immersive setting. Don’t miss out on this incredible opportunity to grow as a leader and earn your certificate!

To reiterate, you earn your Iva M. Brown Leadership Certificate by attendance four out of the five workshops. However, we understand that schedules can be busy, so we're offering an alternative option: attending the August chapter retreat can replace one workshop.

Mentor/Mentee Subcommitt

The Mentor/Mentee Subcommittee is presenting a second Orientation Session for All Mentors and Mentees who missed the first session on March 9. If you attended that session, then you do not need to attend the second. All Sorors are encouraged to attend to become knowledgeable about Mentoring. The session will be held via Zoom on Monday, March 31, 2025 at 7:00 p.m. It will last approximately one hour. Please contact Soror Joy White (513-967-6400) with questions.
