Programs

Service and sisterhood have been the cornerstone of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated® since 1908. With the theme, Soaring to Greater Heights of Service and Sisterhood, the 2022-2026 administration seeks to build upon Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority’s rich legacy of service.

We will reshape our current projects and execute them under the new International Program Initiative in our mission to be of “Service to All Mankind”. Please visit our International website for additional information about the program focus Strengthen Our Sisterhood.

STRENGTHEN OUR SISTERHOOD

We will intentionally take time to fellowship and form lifelong relationships based on affinity, love, trust, respect, and shared goals and interests, while concurrently building on our foundation to serve others.

INITIATIVE 3: ENHANCE OUR ENVIRONMENT

WANDA CLARDY, Chairmen

Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority will employ select strategies to optimize our collective ability and to improve and protect the environment at scale. We will prioritize activities that promote the adoption of more sustainable and responsible practices.

INITIATIVE 1: EMPOWER OUR FAMILIES

AISHA EVANS, Chairmen

Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority will take a multi-generational approach to fortify families within our communities by addressing child hunger and promoting positive youth development and leadership, mental well-being, and senior life.

INITIATIVE 4: ADVOCATE FOR SOCIAL JUSTICE

Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority always has been at the forefront of social justice to promote fairness and equity. We will equip communities with the tools, knowledge, and support to activate their voices and mobilize self-help to empower communities to help themselves.

Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority is launching our most progressive and revolutionary economic initiatives this century. This administration has created institutional-level solutions to combat institutional-level challenges.

BLACK FAMILY REUNION CELEBRATION

Conceived in 1986 by Dr. Dorothy I. Height, President Emerita of the National Council of Negro Women, the Black Family Reunion Celebration, inaugurated in August 1989 in Cincinnati, Ohio, is a 3-day cultural weekend event, held annually on the 3rd weekend of August, which brings consumers, corporations, communities and government agencies together to focus on the historic strengths and traditional values of the Black Family.

CINCINNATI ASSOCIATION OF BLACK UNIVERSITY & COLLEGE ALUMNI

Since the early 1980s, Cincinnati Association of Black University and College Alumni, CABUCA, has sponsored an annual Historically Black College Fair in its effort to increase student enrollment and enlighten prospective students about the benefits of attending Historical Black Colleges and Universities, HBCUs.

CINCINNATI PUBLIC SCHOOL DISTRICT (CPS)

The City of Cincinnati was founded in 1788 on the Ohio River bank opposite the mouth of the Licking River. By the early 1800s, several public schools were operating, making Cincinnati the first to have a public school system in the new Northwest Territory, according to a 1902 book by John B. Shotwell, Schools of Cincinnati.

CENTER FOR CLOSING THE HEALTH GAP

The Center for Closing the Health Gap is a non-profit organization, founded in 2004, committed to raising awareness about and eliminating racial and health disparities across Greater Cincinnati.

Through advocacy, education, and community outreach, we work collaboratively with hospitals, government, associations and businesses to address prevalent health disparities and social determinants.

BLACK BUSINESS DIRECTORY

Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Sigma Omega Chapter through the “Entrepreneurship and the Black Dollar 365″ initiative will continue to highlight and promote African-American owned businesses. Please join us in this endeavor by supporting our Black Business Directory, in the following link which was developed by a soror who is a member of Cincinnati City Council.
